Company updates Creta Maris Supports ‘Green Soap’ Recycling Program by GTP editing team 9 August 2017 written by GTP editing team 9 August 2017 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 8 As part of its environmentally friendly policy, the Creta Maris Beach Resort, located in Hersonissos on the island of Crete, is participating in the “Green Soap” recycling program currently run by the “Clean Hands” non-profit organization. Aiming to become a zero-waste enterprise, the resort collects all the soaps that are no longer suitable for use and recycles them. The new soaps are then provided to vulnerable social groups. The “Green Soap” program provides the resort with the opportunity to help reduce the amount of waste ending up in landfills, thus protect the environment and support the society. “The participation of Creta Maris in the initiative is part of its sustainable operation and a way to achieve the necessary harmony between its financial development, the social and environmental needs,” the resort said in an announcement. Creta Maris also supports social institutions and public bodies, including the “social grocery” which supports families affected by the financial crisis, that have no access to basic items of hygiene and sanitation. The resort is part of the Metaxas Group of Companies and has been operating since 1975. It includes 680 rooms, suites and bungalows, six restaurants, seven bars, seven swimming pools, a gym, a hammam spa, the Asterias Children’s Club and spacious facilities for outdoor and indoor activities. “Clean Hands” is a licensed civil non-profit organization, staffed with specialists in soap technology. Its activities include the collection, processing and disposal of hotels’ used soaps, which are then provided for free to social institutions that are in need basic sanitary items.
