Aiming to promote the alternative forms of tourism offered in the Cyclades and the Dodecanese, the Region of South Aegean has announced its participation in the specialized exhibition TourNatur 2017 to be held in Düsseldorf, Germany, during September 1-3.

In its 14th year, TourNatur is designed for all fans of outdoor sports activities. The program focuses on alternative forms of tourism and ranges from hiking and climbing to trekking, mountain biking and canoeing. The 14th TourNatur this year will host some 5,000 travel destinations from around the world and 275 exhibitors.

“With our participation in TourNatur, we are specifically aiming to highlight all the opportunities for outdoor sports activities found on our islands,” said Marieta Papavasiliou, vice governor of tourism, South Aegean Region.

Ten islands of the Cyclades and the Dodecanese — Rhodes, Karpathos, Astypalea, Kalymnos, Leros, Serifos, Tinos, Amorgos, Kea and Andros — have enrolled to attend the exhibition at the South Aegean Region’s stand and present their alternative forms of tourism.

“The destinations of the South Aegean offer a wide range of tourism products. In recent years we have been trying methodically to promote these products and the alternative forms of tourism that each destination has developed,” Papavasiliou added.

Greek tourism enterprises based in the Cyclades and the Dodecanese are invited to participate (free of charge) in the 14th TourNatur through the South Aegean Region’s stand to present the specialized services they offer. Enterprises can register via e-mail to ttd@pnai.gov.gr and f.parabaloy@1730.syzefxis.gov.gr.
