Speaking to the press, Leontaritis announced the filming of a Balkan co-production to take place on the island on October 16-24. The said project comes on top of plans announced last week for the implementation of a 6.5-million-euro investment to establish a Hollywood studio and film school on the island. Underlining the region’s efforts to boost island growth through investment, Leontaritis presented Constantin Deliyannis, director of Series Balkans Pilots Project, which will undertake the venture. “The portrayal of the locals and the island’s culture will emerge in the scenes filmed here… the production will include professional and amateur actors selected from the island. The benefits for the island will be multiple,” said Deliyannis. Series Balkans is part of a larger Balkan and European creative and educational project aiming at the creation of a studio-school providing students from the Balkans lessons and training courses on screenwriting, directing, producing and marketing TV and web series pilots.
