Events Rhodes Hosts Environmental, Science and Technology Conference ‘CEST2017’ by GTP editing team 28 August 2017 written by GTP editing team 28 August 2017 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 7 The island of Rhodes in the Dodecanese from August 31 to September 2 will host the 15th International Conference on Environmental Science and Technology (CEST2017) with the participation of 400 delegates from 60 countries around the world. The conference’s agenda consists of 41 sessions, which will take place at the Rodos Palace International Convention Center and will include the oral presentation of 404 papers. Additional poster sessions will include the presentation of 245 papers. The CEST2017 will bring together distinguished academics, scientists, engineers, researchers, students, managers and other professionals in order to address and discuss emerging environmental issues: – Solid waste management – Processing and reuse of liquid waste – Management of water recoursces – Smart cities for sustainable development – Circular economy and sustainable development Within the framework of the conference, a meeting under the title “Business Practices Towards Sustainable Tourism in the Aegean Islands” will take place on August 30, at 10 am. It is organized by Demetris F. Lekkas, Associate Professor at the Department of Mathematics of the Aegean University with the participation of Dr. Dirk Glaesser, Director for Sustainable Development at the Tourism Department of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). A round table discussion will follow titled, “The Economic Evaluation of Tourism: The Application of Sustainability Indicators” with moderator George Drakopoulos, President and CEO of tourism consulting company, Tourism Generis. Furthermore, the department of Mediterranean Studies and the Waste Management Laboratory of the Aegean University on August 30, at 7 pm, will hold an event to mark the 20th anniversary since the operation of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. Moreover on September 2 at 4 pm, the Greek- German Assembly is organizing a workshop on “Sustainable Development and Material Flow Systems in Municipalities”.
