Costa Nostrum is a certification standard for sustainable management and development of the beaches in the Mediterranean. The criteria for acquiring the certification include the protection of nature; the promotion of environmental awareness; the preservation and promotion of local culture and traditional products. The Creta Maris Beach Resort raised the “Costa Nostrum – Sustainable Beaches” flag during a ceremony recently held on its premises. Furthermore, it proceeded with the cleaning of the Kastri beach, with the voluntary participation of guests and staff, as well as the “Creta Maris Green Team”. The cleaning process started from the church of Agia Paraskevi and ended up on the resort’s beach. The event took place in the presence of Hersonissos’ Deputy Mayor for Tourism Themis Mountrakis, Port Authority Chief Athanasia Perisinaki, the Director of Hersonissos’ Fire Department Manolis Κoukakis and the Commander of the local Police Department Yiorgos Makroyiannakis. All of Creta Maris’ environmental activities take place within the framework of the resort’s sustainable operation, with the aim to improve the quality of its tourism services, protect the environment, increase the satisfaction of guests and promote the principles of sustainable tourism.
