Greek Culture Minister Lydia Koniordou and her Cypriot counterpart Costas Kadis signed recently a memorandum of understanding towards the mutual promotion of cultural heritage in both countries.

On her visit to Nicosia last week, Koniordou met with Kadis and discussed an action plan based on a common framework that will generate results for both countries. On occasion of European Year of Cultural Heritage in 2018, the memorandum foresees among others residencies of young artists, the exchange of expertise as well as joint-productions in cinema, theater and music.

“We wish to provide the foundation on which young artists can experiment in this time of transition offering a sense of security and that is why we are making efforts to support them in every way,” Koniordou said.

The two ministers also agreed to set up a joint committee that will be monitor and ensure the memorandum is implemented.

European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018 will include activities and initiatives across Europe in efforts to get people interested and involved in cultural heritage.
