In efforts to increase the flow of Chinese tourists to Thessaloniki in northern Greece, the Thessaloniki Tourism Organization recently launched the Chinese version of its official website.

Already available in Greek, English and Russian, the website (www.thessaloniki.travel) includes information on Thessaloniki’s main sites of attraction, history, everyday life, culture, gastronomy, trails, educational activities, festivals, entertainment venues, conferences and exhibitions, hotels and ways of transportation.

The aim is for Chinese travelers to discover the meaning of the motto “Thessaloniki – Many Stories, One Heart”, the organization said in an announcement.

“The Thessaloniki Tourism Organization launched the Chinese version of the website on time… within the framework of our participation in the Western Silk Road initiative, launched by the European Commission and the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and in relation to 2018 being the EU-China Tourism Year,” said Voula Patoulidou, the organization’s president and vice governor of the metropolitan area of Thessaloniki.

“Our main concern was for the Chinese version to be ready before the start of the 82nd Thessaloniki International Fair – with China as the honored country – as the city is expected to receive many Chinese state officials, entrepreneurs and tourists,” she added.

The 82nd Thessaloniki International Fair will open its doors this weekend in the northern port city.
