Destinations news South Aegean Region In Search of Next ‘European Young Chef’ by GTP editing team 14 September 2017 written by GTP editing team 14 September 2017 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 12 The South Aegean Region has launched a gastronomy competition on the Aegean islands to find the perfect candidate that will represent the region in the European Young Chef Award 2017. The region had won last year’s competition with Greek young chef Stamatios Misomikes. The Young Chef Award is organized and promoted by the International Institute of Gastronomy, Culture, Arts and Tourism (IGCAT) and EUHT StPOL. It will include a competition between finalists of regional competitions from around Europe, judged by star chefs and international experts. The event will take place on November 5-6 in Sant Pol de Mar, Spain. To find the chef who will represent the Aegean islands, the South Aegean Region will conduct four competitions on Rhodes, Kos, Santorini and Tinos. The four winners with then compete in the finals to be held on September 30 on Syros. The jury consists of prominent chefs, while the Greek finals will take place in the presence of renowned chef and European Region of Gastronomy Ambassador Argyro Barbarigou. Being the European Region of Gastronomy for 2019, the South Aegean Region is organizing the competition with the Chef Club of the Dodecanese & the Cyclades as a strategic partner.
