UPDATE: UK detectives are questioning two men, aged 18 and 21, arrested in connection with Friday’s London Underground attack. The Guardian reported on Sunday that the UK government concluded a follow-up attack was not imminent and downgraded the UK terror threat assessment from critical to severe.

Greece condemned the attack that took place at Parsons Green underground station in south-west London on Friday, September 15, during which an improvised explosive device was detonated on a Tube train.

British flag“We strongly condemn today’s attack in London underground & express our solidarity to British people and UK government,” the Greek Foreign Ministry said in an announcement.

According to reports, a white “builder’s bucket” in a supermarket bag exploded in a District line train, which had just made a stop at Parsons Green station at around 8:20 am. The train was bound for central London. The explosion injured 29 people.

Authorities have declared the incident at Parsons Green underground station as “terrorist”.

On Friday, CNN reported that Prime Minister Theresa May announced that the terror threat level in the United Kingdom was raised from severe to critical. (The terror threat level of “critical” means than another attack is considered to be “imminent.”)

According to reports, Amaq News, Islamic State’s official news agency, has claimed responsibility for the Parsons Green tube bombing.
