Surveys, Trends & Stats SETE: Road, Sea, Air Travel to Greece on the Rise by GTP editing team 29 September 2017 written by GTP editing team 29 September 2017 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 9 Incoming traffic to Greece by road, air and sea is increasing paving the way for improved figures in 2017, the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE) said on Thursday in its monthly bulletin. According to SETE’s intelligence unit, the number of international arrivals at major airports across Greece grew by 5.9 percent in August and by 8 percent from the start of the year, with regional airports reporting an increase of 5.4 percent and Athens airport by 8.3 percent in the same month. Planned airline slots at regional airports have also risen by 8.3 percent for the March-August 2017 period with SETE data estimating an 8.6 percent rise in airline programming at regional airports in the same period. Inbound road travel was up by 14.5 percent in August and by 10 percent from the start of 2017. According to border control data, July marked a 10.2 percent rise in incoming traffic compared to the same month last year and travel receipts were up by 5.3 percent for the same month and by 6.4 percent for the first seven months of the year. Sea travel, particularly from Italy, grew by 14 percent in June and by 12.4 percent from the beginning of the year.
