Event News Greek Capital Ready to Host 31st Athens Run – Registration Open by GTP editing team 5 October 2017 written by GTP editing team 5 October 2017 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 9 The Greek capital is preparing to host the 31st Athens Run, which will kick off on Sunday, October 22, with the participation of professional and amateur athletes. Registration is open online until October 20th at 11 pm. Organized by the City of Athens’ Culture, Youth and Sports Organization (OPANDA), the Athens Run is one of the largest sports events held in the capital since 1982. The athletes will compete in the 10 km and 5 km races, starting at 9.50 am and 10.00 am respectively from the Kallimarmaro Panathinaic Stadium. The 2 km race for children and people with disabilities will commence at 10.15 am from Vassilissis Sofias avenue and Ploutarchou streets. All races will end at the Kallimarmaro Panathinaic Stadium. Athens’ Panathenaic Stadium (Kallimarmaro). The 5 km race is also open to children over 12 years old. The event provides participants with the opportunity to run through Athens‘ landmark buildings and monuments, without keeping track of time, for the joy of participation and the euphoria sports offer, the organizers said.
