The two men discussed ways to strengthen their collaboration and laid out the priorities which include upgrading infrastructure in order to be able to better manage the tourist flows and at the same time ensure quality services, which will in turn bring in much needed revenue. Also topping the agenda was the issue of extending the tourism season beyond the popular summer months. Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE) President Yiannis Retsos “We are joining forces towards a better result for the visibility of Crete abroad, and we are doing this in cooperation with tourism bodies and hoteliers. Only by working together can we achieve better results, to identify the errors and improve,” said Arnaoutakis after the meeting. “The goal of this meeting … of the new administration elected in May is to come closer to the community, to the source of this wealth. We want to support and strengthen our tourism product, to enrich it, to boost its added value and hence its selling price which in turn will bring in more revenue,” said Retsos on his part.
