Events Speakers Announced for SETE’s 16th Tourism and Development Conference by GTP editing team 13 October 2017 written by GTP editing team 13 October 2017 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 6 Government officials and representatives of international tourism organizations and enterprises will be present at the 16th Conference on Tourism and Development of the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE), due to take place on October 16 and 17 at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation in Athens. Under the title “Greek Tourism: The Perfect Balancing Act”, the conference will focus on the dynamic role of tourism in contributing to environmental, economic and social sustainability. SETE’s 15th Conference on Tourism and Development in 2016. The official opening of the annual landmark event will be held in the evening of Monday, October 16, with a keynote speech by minister of state Alekos Flambouraris. Tourism minister Elena Kountoura and SETE president Yiannis Retsos will open the conference’s second day on October 17, while Visit Napa Valley president and CEO Gregory Clay will make a keynote speech. The conference’s speakers also include Tourismo Lanzarote managing director Héctor Fernández Manchado; TUI Group head of public policy, group corporate and external affairs Frank Püttmann and Acropolis Museum president Dimitrios Pantermalis. This year’s conference will present international best practices, analyze spatial planning issues and explore ways to increase the social footprint of tourism. Emphasis will also be placed on the interconnection of tourism with the agri-food sector and its importance in creating comparative advantages for the Greek tourism product and consequently for the local communities. The conference will conclude with a presentation by Astrapto founder and CEO Aurora Dawn Reinke. The official language of the conference will be Greek, with simultaneous translation in English.
