The Municipality of Andros is launching a three-year plan to boost the Cycladic island’s tourism promotion and extend the season.

“Tourism is a road race and we need targeted activities to achieve our goals,” the municipality said in an announcement, adding that its main objective is to make Andros’ tourism infrastructure, the services offered and its products known to the world. Furthermore, it aims to bring together the island’s tourism entrepreneurs, local producers and global tourism organizations.

“We dynamically launch our program in order to let everybody know that Andros is offering high-quality tourism services,” the municipality said.

The three-year plan foresees the use of modern digital marketing tools; the implementation of strategies towards maintaining the interest of traditional markets for Andros and attracting new ones, including special tourism groups; the establishment of a tourism identity; and the launch of a common tourism strategy with tourism organizations.

The municipality also plans to promote the island’s tourism and culture through new experiences, launch an advertising campaign in the national media, participate in international tourism exhibitions and other events and promote local products.

The program will be finalized within the next few days, following a consultation period and the submission of proposals by the municipality’s tourism committee.
