If you’re young, creative and have a good idea that can make the Greek capital a better place to live in, then the Athens Digital Lab is for you.

The Athens Municipality invites individuals, groups and new technology enthusiasts to submit their proposals for a smarter, friendlier city to the newly formed Athens Digital Lab. Ideas should focus on cleanliness, parking, green spaces, public space and vehicle fleet management.

The initiative, part of the municipality’s digital strategy, aims to provide a ground of exchange, research and development for advanced smart city solutions, supporting innovation that will improve the quality of life of residents and visitors to Athens.

Five teams will be selected to work for a six-month period in a specially equipped space complete with technical support, guidance and access to IT platforms and municipality data. Participants will also be able to field tests.

Applications should be submitted to www.athensdigitallab.gr by November 19.

“With Athens Digital Lab, Athens will get its own research and development lab for advanced smart city solutions with the municipality’s digital strategy entering the implementation phase,” said Athens Mayor Giorgos Kaminis.

“We set the priorities for the city’s challenges and seek technological solutions that will improve the citizens’ everyday life providing the opportunity to capable young people – engineers, researchers and entrepreneurs – to become part of this development,” he added.
