Brussels and The Hague are next on the agenda. The London event last month was organized by the Athens Development and Destination Management Agency (ΕΑΤΑ) in collaboration with the City of Athens Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACVB). “Excellent facilities and accommodation, friendly staff, its professional network and of course, world-class attractions make Athens a perfect and unique destination for every event,” Mayor Giorgos Kaminis said in statement with regard to hosting business events and conferences in the Greek capital. A step in this direction is the selection of Athens to host the ICOMIA World Marinas Conference in October next year. The ACVB has additional plans to establish Athens as prime MICE destination particularly in view of the city’s emerging hotel scene as well as its 2016 ranking at 25th in the International Congress & Convention Association (ICCA) business event destination list. Athens Roadshow is supported by the Athens – Attica & Argosaronic Hotel Association and the Hellenic Association of Professional Congress Organizers (HAPCO). “Efforts for Athens’ recovery are continuing and in this endeavor MICE tourism has a primary role to play both with regard to the qualitative upgrade of the tourist product as well as easing seasonality,” said Alexandros Vasilikos, president of Athens – Attica & Argosaronic Hotel Association. The Greek capital is set to welcome more than 5 million visitors this year. Follow GTP Headlines on Google News to keep up to date with all the latest on tourism and travel in Greece.
