Co-organized with the International Relations for Culture under the theme, “Invest in Culture: Destination Culture”, the symposium will be held in the presence of tourism minister Elena Kountoura and culture minister Lydia Koniordou. The aim of the symposium is to highlight the importance of the implementation of a sustainable strategy in culture with the development of cultural activities and the effective governance of cultural organizations. “Despite the financial crisis – which is an additional motive – Greece’s culture, through the implementation of cleverly designed initiatives and policies connected to the Greek tourism product, should become one of the economy’s main pillars and an effective tool for regional and economic development and extroversion,” the chamber said in an announcement. The symposium will focus on the interaction and interdependence of culture and tourism; the ways culture can support efforts to extend the tourism season; the extroversion of Greek culture; the ways Greek tourism and culture could attract investments; new trends and good practices from abroad; the need for a business, marketing and management plan in culture; the way information technology can contribute to the promotion of culture; new trends in literature. Among the symposium’s participants are representatives of cultural organizations, authors, museum directors, Greek and foreign entrepreneurs, representatives of tourism bodies and new technology experts.
