The Byzantino Restaurant of the Hilton Athens hotel is introducing a new menu inspired by Greek products, featuring seasonal ingredients and comfort food references by chef George Kaperdas. The restaurant is an “all-time classic Athenian meeting point, which has been part of the city’s history for over 50 years, offering warm ambience and cosmopolitan feel,” the hotel said in an announcement. The talented chef George Kaperdas, right hand of executive chef Kostas Athanassiou, has been trained and worked in Michelin-starred restaurants, such as the “The Jane” in Antwerp, the “Erno’s Bistro” in Frankfurt, the “Tom Aikens” and the “Gordon Ramsey, Savoy Hotel” in London. The new menu of the Byzantino Restaurant includes a wide choice of appetizers, such as the rocket and spinach salad with crispy kavourmas and San Michali cheese flakes; the sautéed scallops with prosciutto from Euritania and asparagus as well as the baked sfela cheese from Messinia with preserved quince. The main courses include the ravioli pastitsio with fresh and frumenty béchamel sauce; the beef cheeks with black truffled potato purée and red wine sauce and the sautéed sea bass fillet with cauliflower, grape and curry sauce. Hilton Athens The menu also features healthy light dishes, such as the quinoa burger with beetroot relish and mustard cream; the beef fillet with sautéed kale and the lamb chops with quinoa, pomegranate and mint – yogurt sauce. The delicious desserts are certainly a must-try: Pumpkin cheesecake; apple pie with cinnamon crumble; brownie with chocolate mousse brownie and tart with fresh berries. On Sundays, Byzantino is offering the richest buffet in town, an ideal choice for a family outing. Children can play with the animateur at the kid’s corner, a designated area within the restaurant’s premises, while parents can relax and enjoy their lunch.
