The changes in the global tourism industry and the best ways hospitality businesses can follow the new demand and supply environment shaped by tourism, will be analyzed at the 1st International Hospitality Forum on November 25 at the Metropolitan Expo in Athens. Organized by the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels, the forum will take place on the sidelines of the Xenia 2017 hospitality trade show and host leading foreign and Greek experts from the tourism industry, the academic community and consulting companies. The 1st International Hospitality Forum will focus on strengthening the potential of Greece’s hotels against competition in accordance to the latest international developments and trends in the field of quality hospitality. Referring to the objectives of the event, the chamber’s president, Yiorgos Tsakiris, said that the hotel product as we have known it in the past years is changing. “On the one hand, the licensed hotel sector is facing the competition of the sharing economy and on the other hand, the current hotel standards are radically varying due to the diversification of hospitality’s client groups, with the entry of the Millennials and Generation z groups into the market, which have different requirements and expectations from the hotel product,” Tsakiris said. “Traditional hotel services are now ranked lower by new client groups, as better personalized and e-services are very high in their preferences,” he added. The forum will explore the new environment that will be shaped in the future for hotels and its hospitality services, an environment that demands innovative, online services.
