Tourism professionals from the Thessaly region in Greece, had the chance to gain valuable insight into digital practices and the targeted use of social media during the first “Thessaly Loading Digital Marketing for Tourism Enterprises” workshop held this week in the coastal town of Volos. Organized by the “Thessaly Tourism Partnership” with the participation of TripAdvisor, the day event gathered over 120 sector professionals and tourism experts who shared know-how on the best ways to tap into the digital market and the social media in order to boost clientele and sales. The workshop is part of a tourism education and partnership program for the Thessaly region designed and implemented by Marketing Greece, the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE) and Coca-Cola HBC. “The Thessaly Tourism Partnership is a pioneering program is a serious, reliable, achievable, workable and effective tool for tourism entrepreneurs and for all of Thessaly,” said Thessaly Regional Governor Kostas Agorastos. Ioanna Dretta, CEO Marketing Greece, described the project as a successful public-private partnership “which can produce substantial and tangible results for the benefit of the local economy and of society”, adding that “tourism is a sector of the economy that involves society as a whole, and as such requires synergies and partnerships.
