Under the title “Tourism: The Wealth-producing Industry of the Greek Economy”, experts from the areas of tourism, local government, and business will explore new models and guidelines for the upgrade of tourism services and ways to enhance the skills of professionals in the industry. The discussion comes at a particularly important time for Greece’s tourism industry as it has succeeded in creating growth prospects and new jobs, generating know-how and paving the way for the visibility of the country, its destinations and its tourist product despite the difficult economic climate. The audience will play the lead role in this open dialogue which will be moderated as a public interview with participants asking the panel of guests questions. Admission is free of charge but requires online registration. The event takes place within the Rooms to VET EU project, which aims to maintain and boost the competitiveness of the European tourism industry by supporting the upskilling and professionalisation of tourism services, with a focus on tourism services provided by owners of private accommodation facilities, small residences and family arrangements and the exploitation of opportunities and tools available at national and European levels.
