Pioneering Greeks: Niki Smirni, Founder of Travelgems

This week we introduce Niki Smirni, founder of Travelgems, an automated virtual concierge that helps travelers to experience unique travel moments, create lifelong memories and their very own exciting stories to tell.

Niki loves Greece and traveling. During her travels to more than 50 countries, she has tried to feel the energy of each place; experience the best food, the things that stand out and the personality of the inhabitants of each place.

She thought this would be ideal in a country like Greece, which is multifaceted and has many different features and beauties to showcase separately at each time.

Those needs and the needs of global tourism led her to create Travelgems, an automated virtual concierge. Tourists respond to a number of questions and in real time Travelgems suggests the best features of the place they are visiting. It includes free travel guides written by the editorial team, headed by Chief Editor Sophia Ginti.

The second key element is the tailor made travel guides and the third, the 360 travel experiences, which someone can automatically book on Travelgems.

Travelgems would have never happened without the local communities’ support. It is addressed to the traveler, but in order to come closer to the traveler, Travelgems has established collaborations with leading travel agencies abroad, in  Germany, Israel and America.

“By decoding a traveler’s DNA, we want to change the way people travel. This is our vision,” Niki said.

Inspired by the dynamism and creativity of the Greek entrepreneurial spirit, LoveGreece was founded in 2013 as an initiative to boost and promote the country’s image abroad by profiling talented and successful Greeks. With their ethos and vision, Greece’s entrepreneurs and professionals are an important aspect of the country worth highlighting to the world. LoveGreece is powered by Gina Mamidaki, the founder of the G & A Mamidakis Foundation.
