Event News Hilton Athens Supports Vulnerable Groups Via ‘Linens for Life’ Program by GTP editing team 4 December 2017 written by GTP editing team 4 December 2017 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 38 As part of its social responsibility program, the Hilton Athens is supporting the Linens for Life program, currently run by Diversey, to encourage the recycling of used hotel linen and support women in need. Diversey is a company providing hygiene solutions and cleaning technologies. The Linens for Life program is a global social responsibility initiative, which promotes the recycling of used hotel linen for charity reasons. Used linens collected by hotels are distributed by Diversey to non-governmental organizations and local communities to be reused or recycled. The initiative is providing vulnerable groups with the opportunity to earn their livelihood, while also supporting hotels in their effort to reduce waste. There are currently more than 22 Linens for Life programs running in 14 cities in Asia, Middle East and Africa. As part of a global cooperation with Hilton, Diversey joined forces with Hilton Athens to expand the program in Europe and Greece in particular. Photo © Athens Hilton Hotel Within this framework, Diversey has brought together the Family Support Center (KESO) of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens and the Knit2Lead network, which teaches poor and abused women to sew and turn fabrics into original creations. Hilton Athens provided the linen in order for the women to be able to learn how to convert clothing to new items, including bags, pouches for multiple uses, pensilcases and Christmas ornaments. The classes took place at the facilities of KESO. Hilton Athens bazaar The items will be available to buy during a bazaar, scheduled to take place on December 11, at the lobby of the Hilton Athens. The event will also include Christmas carols and lots of surprises. The items will also be sold at the KESO bazaar, which will be held between December 13 and 15 at the Syntagma metro station in central Athens.
