Destinations news Egypt Promoted as Tourism Destination to Greek Market by GTP editing team 6 December 2017 written by GTP editing team 6 December 2017 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 16 The Egyptian Tourism Authority and Egyptair promoted Egypt as an international tourism destination to the visitors that attended the recent 33rd International Tourism Exhibition “Philoxenia” in the northern Greek city of Thessaloniki. Greek Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura received an honorary plaque from the director of the Egyptian Tourism Authority for Greece, Italy, Cyprus and Malta, Emad Abdalla. During the exhibition, Greek Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura met with the director the Egyptian Tourism Authority for Greece, Italy, Cyprus and Malta, Emad Abdalla and discussed on issues related to the tourism industry. “We are investing in the close relations of Greece with Egypt and we are open to collaborations, as well as to the implementation of common initiatives in order to promote Egypt as an exotic, affordable destination… being only two hours away from Greece by air,” Abdalla said during an event attended by Greek tour operators and media representatives. Egyptair Regional Director for Greece and Cyprus Salah Tawfic. Moreover, Egyptair’s regional director for Greece and Cyprus, Salah Tawfic, presented the company’s services, vision and network of destinations. Referring to Egyptair’s frequent special offers addressed to Greek travelers, Tawfic said that demand appears increased for flights between Athens and Cairo, especially during the Christmas and New Year holidays. The carrier is currently conducting seven flights a week connecting Athens to Cairo, while with the start of the summer season its weekly flights will be increased to 14. Additionally, Egyptair is conducting two weekly flights to Alexandria, thus increasing the number of weekly flights to 16. During the 33rd Philoxenia, Egyptair’s executives held a number of meetings with representatives of Greece’s leading tour operators, aiming to establish new collaborations, attract tourists and promote Greece and Egypt as tourism destinations.
