The Porto Carras Grand Resort in Halkidiki, northern Greece, received three accolades at the World Luxury Hotel Awards 2017, during a ceremony recently held at the Kulm hotel in St. Moritz, Switzerland. The resort won the titles of “Luxury Casino Hotel – Continent Winner, Europe” and “Luxury Family Resort – Country Winner” for its five-star Meliton and Sithonia hotels, while its Villa Galini hotel was crowned “Luxury Wedding Destination – Country Winner”. The World Luxury Hotel Awards recognize and reward excellence and the best practices of global, continental and country hotels across 50 different categories. Porto Carras’ distinction as a “Luxury Casino Hotel – Continent Winner, Europe” refers to its two casinos currently operating in the premises of the five-star Meliton and Sithonia hotels. “The authentic atmosphere of New Orleans in the casino of Sithonia hotel is perfectly combined with the classic luxury of the new Meliton Prive casino of Meliton hotel, the chic aesthetics and the VIP services,” Porto Carras said in an announcement. Villa Galini The resort was also named “Luxury Family Resort – Country Winner”, after its two hotels have repeatedly been honored for providing their young guests with the ideal infrastructure to secure their comfort and entertainment. “Porto Carras’ efforts to become the most ideal destination for families have been recognized,” the announcement said. Furthermore, the resort’s Villa Galini, “a place of exceptional beauty and unrivaled luxury”, was distinguished as a a “Luxury Wedding Destination – Country Winner”. According to the announcement, the accolade follows Villa Galini’s previous distinction as the “Best Historic Hotel Wedding Experience”. Villa Galini has hosted distinguished personalities over the years, such as French politician François Mitterrand, Prince Albert of Monaco, artist Salvador Dali, pianist Gina Bachauer, Russian president Vladimir Putin and many others.
