Fourteen Greeks are among the 100 top influencers in the world’s shipping industry as compiled by the Lloyd’s List.

John Anthony Angelicoussis, owner of Angelicoussis Shipping Group, ranked first among the Greek shipping tycoons and eighth on Lloyd’s List 100.

One of the oldest continuously running journals focusing on shipping news, this year’s Lloyd’s List 100 Edition Eight included shipping tycoons from China, Norway and Denmark.

The leading Greek holding the eighth spot on the prestigious list is billionaire shipowner John Anthony Angelicoussis, owner of Angelicoussis Shipping Group.

In the 27th position and second Greek is George J. Prokopiou, founder of Dynacom Tankers, Sea Traders and Dynagas, followed by Angeliki Frangou of Navios Maritime Holdings at 26th and Peter G. Livanos owner of Ceres Hellenic, active liquefied natural gas transport ranked 29th on the Lloyds List.

Petros Pappas, head of Star Bulk, is ranked 46th followed by Nikolas Tsakos, founder, president and CEO of Tsakos Energy Navigation (TEN) Limited and Intertanko.

Other Greeks included on the list are George Economou of TMS/Dry Ships, Kostas Konstantakopoulos of Costamare, Theodore Veniamis of the Greek Shipowners Union and Evangelos Marinakis of Capital Group, who is the only Greek to have moved up on the list.

The top three positions on this year’s Lloyds List are held by President of China Xi Jinping; Xu Lirong and Li Jianhong of China COSCO Shipping and China Merchants Group respectively and one woman, Hu Xiaolian of China’s Export-Import Bank.
