After renovation works worth 20 million euros and its grand opening in spring 2017, the Makedonia Palace in Thessaloniki is welcoming its guests to its newly established “Hammam Baths”.

“Makedonia Palace welcomes all to the largest hammam in Greece, on a journey for the body and soul,” the hotel said in an announcement.

The hammam baths constitute a tradition in the northern city of Thessaloniki. The hotel’s Hammam Baths “is a place dedicated to the secrets of wellness and beauty”. Inspired by the Byzantine era, it includes rooms with half-vaulted ceilings and low light, fountains and marble benches.

“Our guests prepare for an escape from the everyday life, with refreshing steam baths, relieving massage and traditional beauty rituals,” the hotel said.

The legendary five-star Makedonia Palace is Thessaloniki’s first luxury hotel established in 1971. Its ambitious “Remake Project”, completed in 2017, aims to further enhance its services and support the development of tourism in Thessaloniki and the wider region.
