Greece’s Regional Airports See 10.3% Passenger Increase

Arrivals at Greece’s 14 regional airports, currently run by Fraport, increased by 10.3 percent in 2017 compared to 2016, reaching a total of 27.6 million passengers.

According to an announcement by the Fraport Group, the busiest airports included Kavala, where traffic surged by 22.8 percent to 337,963 passengers; Kos posting a gain of 20.7 percent to some 2.3 million passengers and Mykonos where arrivals increased by 18.6 percent to about 1.2 million passengers.

Overall passenger traffic in December decreased by 8.6 percent and reached 610,668 million. Despite the downward trend, arrivals on Kos increased by 54 percent, on Skiathos by 29 percent and on Corfu by 21.6 percent.

The 14 Greek regional airports under Fraport’s management include three mainland gateways (ThessalonikiAktion, and Kavala) and 11 airports on Greek islands (Chania on Crete, Samos, Kefalonia, Kos, Mykonos, Lesvos, Rhodes, Santorini, Skiathos, Corfu and Zakynthos).
