Event News Navarino Junior Golf Academy Supports Tomorrow’s Champions by GTP editing team 18 January 2018 written by GTP editing team 18 January 2018 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 6 The Navarino Junior Golf Academy. 2017 was a year full of successes and prizes for the Navarino Junior Golf Academy, which is operated by Costa Navarino in the area of Messinia in the Peloponnese, and currently counts 50 children and youngsters. In 2017 the academy participated in five tournaments of the Hellenic Golf Federation including the Super Cup and the Spring Cup; the 2017 Hellenic National Match Play championship; the 2017 Hellenic National Stroke Play championship and the 3rd Hellenic International golf championship. In addition, members of the golf academy qualified for participation in four of the national junior and mens’ squads including the 2017 Egyptian Open, 3rd Hellenic-Cyprus Friendship cup; the European team shield championship and the 2017 Turkish Amateur championship. Moreover, with the support of Costa Navarino, the junior golf team participated in international competitions such as the Jamega Pro golf tour and the English Boys U18 Open championship in the UK, as well as the Sotogrande Young talents trophy in Spain. The Costa Navarino team also won the 5th Interclub junior golf championship, which took place at Costa Navarino in July 2017. Panos Pantazopoulos and Kosntantinos Kotsovos, champions of the Navarino Junior Golf Academy. Among the academy’s top players are Panos Pantazopoulos and Kosntantinos Kotsovos, who – with the support of Costa Navarino – in 2018 will continue their golf careers along with their studies abroad. The Navarino Junior Golf Academy first opened its doors in 2011, aiming to promote golf and talented young athletes from Messinia, as well as share the sport’s “secrets” and rules. “Through a scholarship program, which provides the young golf players with equipment and lessons for free, the Navarino Junior Golf Academy has managed to become the most active successful golf academy in Greece,” Costa Navarino said in an announcement. The scholars are also entitled to use Costa Navarino’s two award-winning golf courses – The Dunes Course and The Bay Course – for a whole year.
