This is the second certified thermal spring in the Attica region after Lake Vouliagmeni. “The recognition of thermal resources is part of the ongoing national tourism policy, aiming to develop thematic forms of tourism and in this respect to develop health and wellness tourism and promote new healing destinations,” an announcement by the Tourism Ministry said. According to the announcement, the Aixioni thermal spring of the Municipality of Glyfada has been certified as a natural healing resource and is suitable for balneotherapy. The spring was found to have healing elements suitable for rheumatic diseases, chronic rheumatism, sciatica, back pain as well as diseases of the nervous system. Moreover, Minister Kountoura also certified a thermal spring in Preveza and recognized it as a natural healing resource. The thermal spring was deemed suitable for balneotherapy and therapies for for rheumatic diseases, chronic rheumatism, sciatica, back pain and nervous system diseases.
