Surveys, Trends & Stats Travel Receipts in Greece Up 10.7% in Jan-Nov 2017 by GTP editing team 23 January 2018 written by GTP editing team 23 January 2018 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 10 Greece saw a 10.7 percent year-on-year increase in travel receipts to 14,413 million euros during January-November 2017, the Bank of Greece said on Tuesday. According to provisional data, this development is attributed to increases in receipts from within the EU28 by 14 percent to 9,747 million euros and in receipts from outside the EU28 by 5.5 percent to 4,243 million euros. Specifically, receipts from France rose by 17.4 percent to 989 million euros, as did receipts from Germany, by 31.9 percent to 2,539 million euros. Receipts from the United Kingdom also increased, by 11.6 percent to 2,044 million euros. Turning to non-EU28 countries, receipts from Russia decreased by 3.2 percent to 414 million euros, whereas receipts from the United States rose by 4.8 percent to 791 million euros. January-November 2017 tourist arrivals During the first eleven months of the year, inbound traveller flows to Greece rose 9.9 percent to 26,632 thousand. Specifically, visitor flows through airports increased by 10 percent, while arrivals through road border-crossing points also increased by 9.3 percent. In the period under review, the number of visitors from within the EU28 increased by 8.3 percent year-on-year to 18,282 thousand, as did the number of visitors from outside the EU28, by 13.6 percent to 8,349 thousand. In November 2017 alone, travel receipts rose by 1.3 percent year-on-year to 225 million euros, from 222 million euros in the same month of 2016. During the same month, the number of inbound visitors rose by 3.3 percent year-on-year to 741 thousand.
