According to INSETE’s monthly bulletin, international traffic at regional airports in December marked a decline of 1.9 percent while Athens International Airport recorded a 9 percent rise. Performance from the start of the year at Athens Airport saw a six percent rise while regional airports saw an increase of 9.5 percent. At the same time, the number of arrivals by road dropped by 15.5 percent in December for a third consecutive month but recorded a 6.1 percent rise for for the year overall. “The data shows a ‘mixed’ picture for December but a positive one since the beginning of the year,” INSETE noted. Also, the data showed that tourism revenue in Greece increased by 1.3 percent in November and by 10.7 percent since the beginning of the year. The INSETE report added that consumer confidence is growing stronger in most of Greece’s source markets including Austria, France, Belgium, Germany, the US and Italy, with the exception of the UK and Turkey, where the index has dropped. Stronger consumer confidence indicates that demand for Greece will remain steady. Follow GTP Headlines on Google News to keep up to date with all the latest on tourism and travel in Greece.
