Five Greek destinations are included on the list of the 10 most popular European islands for German summer travelers, which was recently released by Check24, one of Germany’s largest comparison tourism portals. “Popular destinations since last year such as Spain and Greece are still in high demand for 2018,” said Martin Zier, managing director travel at Check24. Rhodes ranks sixth with a share of 6.9 percent followed by Kos (seventh) with a 6.2 percent share. Furthermore, Corfu and Paxi are in eighth position with an overall share of 2.8 percent. Mallorca tops the list with a share of 32.3 percent in package holiday bookings. Other islands included on the list are Fuerteventura in third place, the Gran Canaria in fourth, Tenerife in seventh, Ibiza and Lanzarote in ninth and tenth place respectively. Photo Source: Region of South Aegean According to the survey, summer holidays on the islands will be more expensive in 2018 compared to 2017, with the exception of Kos where prices are expected to drop by 2 percent in the summer season compared to the same period last year. The Greek islands of Corfu and Paxi will show a significant rise in prices by 18.4 percent, while prices on Rhodes will be up by 12.6 percent and on Crete by 4.3 percent.
