The Kubic Athens Hotel has been honored as the “Smart Hotel of the Year” at the Hotel Tech Awards 2018, recently held on the sidelines of the 2nd Hotel Tech Conference at the Wyndham Grand Athens hotel in the Greek capital.

According to an announcement, the hotel marks the first attempt for the implementation of the “smart hotels” concept in Greece, which provides guests with a unique accommodation and travel experience through the use of cutting-edge technology.

Giorgos Tsakiris, president of the company currently operating the Kubic Athens Hotel, received the award by Secretary General for Tourism Policy and Development Giorgos Tziallas. Tsakiris thanked the jury and underlined the importance of technology in the hospitality industry, also saying that hoteliers should adopt the new trends and offer high quality services in order to be able to confront the fast growing international competition.

The Kubic Athens Hotel opened its doors in 2017. Its innovative systems are based on the KNX technology, which is used in home and building control applications. Each room comes with a Samsung tablet, which enables guests to adjust the temperature, turn on/off and dim the lights, control various apps and programs through the TV, find information on the hotel and the surrounding area and many more.

Furthermore, the hotel’s dedicated mobile app enables guests to perform the aforementioned operations, as well as check-in before their arrival, get their electronic bluetooth key or check-out. The hotel also includes a snack bar, a gym and a roof garden.
