Secretary General for Tourism Policy and Development George Tziallas recently informed international hotel industry experts and investment funds on the promising opportunities available in the Greek tourism sector. Tziallas participated in a special session of the recent Adria Hotel Forum, the leading Southeast European hotel investment conference held every year in Zagreb. The Adria Hotel Forum was held February 14-15. During his speech, the Greek secretary general informed that the Tourism Ministry’s policy to establish Greece as a world-renowned 365 days a year destination has created new investment opportunities through the promotion of new Greek destinations; the opening of new markets for upscale visitors; the development of new tourism themes, products and services; the improvement of connectivity to the country and the expansion of the summer season. According to Tziallas, the steady upward trend of Greek tourism, with successive records of arrivals and revenues over the last three years, has made Greece particularly attractive for new tourism investment projects, as international groups have already expressed interest to do business in the country. Referring to the Greek hotel industry, he highlighted the qualitative upgrades that have taken place in recent years as well as new investments that are currently in progress, further upgrading the Greek tourist product of Greece. Tziallas also informed potential investors about the legislative framework that concerns investments for large hotel units in Greece.
