ITB Berlin 2017 – LGBT Travel

Diversity will come into the spotlight during the 52nd ITB to take place in Berlin on March 7-11, featuring the world’s largest display of LGBT travel products, services and trends.

One of the industry’s most highly-attended events, ITB 2018 welcomes the fast-growing market segment with a record number of exhibitors at the Gay & Lesbian Travel Pavilion (Hall 21b) as well as launching for the first time the LGBT+ Pioneer Award. Meanwhile, the LGBT Presentation Corner will be hosting lectures on the latest topics, workshops, product presentations and numerous networking events.

More specifically, March 7 brings the LGBT Media Networking Brunch, the Visit Berlin Pink Pillow Reception at the LGBT Pavilion and the Gay ITB Party by TomOnTour at The Reed Club.

March 8 hosts the Ontario Tourism Reception at the LGBT Pavilion, with March 9 hosting the the IGLTA & Axel Hotel party and for the first time at the Palais am Funkturm, the LGBT session at the ITB Convention.

The ITB LGBT+ Pioneer Award ceremony will follow. ITB organizers aim with the annual award to reward outstanding destinations, tourism companies and personalities who have contributed to worldwide acceptance for LGBT travel.

On March 10, trade visitors, media representatives and the community can meet up at the Pink Pillow Breakfast at the Mercure Hotel Berlin City.

“With the legalisation of civil partnerships, LGBT travel is now booming in many countries. This has opened up new markets and created new travel experiences, such as honeymoon tourism and rainbow family cruises,” said Rika Jean-François, CSR officer at ITB Berlin. The interest shown by new exhibitors reflects the dynamic growth of this niche market.

ITB Berlin 2018 will be open to trade guests only on the first three days of the show (March 7-9). Visitors can attend over the weekend. More information on www.itb-berlin.com.
