Spring’s largest sports happening will be celebrated with a series of events in the run-up to the big day starting with the inauguration on Thursday, March 15, of the Athens Half Marathon Expo at the Athens Conservatory, where participants will have the chance to learn everything about the latest products and trends. Athletes can register or pick up their race bib and kits at the Athens Conservatory (Rigillis St) as of Thursday between 1pm and 8pm and from 10am to 8pm on the weekend. On race day (Sunday), runners will have to be in their places at Syntagma Square (Amalias Ave) at 9am for the official opening of the 21,100km race. The 3km race will start at 9.10am at the Evangelismos metro station (Vas Sofias Ave), the kiddies and people with disabilities run at 9.35am on Rizari St, and the 5km road race at 11.45am at Syntagma Square (Othonos and Mitropoleos sts). All races will finish on Amalias Ave in front of the Greek Parliament building. The Athens Half Marathon is a full member of AIMS (International Association of Marathon Races and Distance Running), and is organized under the auspices of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO), branded through the trademark Greece.
