Greek Independence Day is a national holiday celebrated annually in Greece on March 25 that commemorates the start of the War of Greek Independence in 1821. In 1821, the Greeks rose up against the Ottoman Empire which had occupied Greece for almost 400 years, leading to the war of independence. “We stand together for freedom and justice and democracy today and for all time,” Trump said.
