Professional jet skiers from more than 30 countries will gather in the town of Oropos , in eastern Attica, between June 3 and 10, to participate in the Akropolis Jet Raid 2018.

Held under the organization of the Public Benefit Corporation and the Tourism Development Committee of the Oropos Municipality, the Akropolis Jet Raid 2018 is expected to shine the spotlight on the tourism potential of the host destination.

Greece has been selected for the eighth time to host the championship, according to the organizers. In 2016 and 2017 the event was hosted by the municipalities of Volos, Almyros, Skiathos and Skopelos.

Oropos was selected among many other Greek popular tourism destinations, following thorough research by the Hellenic Jet Sports Boating Association and the relevant international jet sports association.

“The Akropolis Jet Raid 2018 will pave the way for Oropos to enter the international tourism market and attract high-income travelers all year round,” the Oropos Municipality said in an announcement.

The race this year will start from the Markopoulos Beach in Oropos and participants will have to race around the Evian Gulf. The race will also include a two-day trip to the Cycladic islands of Milos, Kythnos and Kimolos.

The race will be broadcast by international media such as RTBR-RTL-TVI, Eurosport, AB Moteurs France, RAI 1 and ESPN Brazil.

The Akropolis Jet Raid 2018 will be held under the auspices of the Tourism Ministry and the General Secretariat of Sports of the Ministry of Culture.
