The new privacy law, known as GDPR, will take effect as of May 25 across the EU restricting how personal data is collected and handled by public or private companies, organizations, services, banks, insurance companies, hospitals and hotels. The rules of GDPR are to be included in relevant legislation by the Greek Ministry of Justice, Transparency and Human Rights. The chamber also announced that it will hold a series of meetings in all 13 regions of Greece to come closer to its members. “The chamber’s meetings in the regions will allow us to more effectively inform our thousands of members and to include new ideas in our plans,” the chamber’s president Alexandros Vassilikos said in an announcement. “Our local presence will be a first-time opportunity for dialogue and exchange of views with local bodies across Greece, for the benefit of the Greek economy and hotel businesses that are the backbone of regional economic development,” he added.
