Company updates Santikos Collection: Marpunta Resort to Open in May 2018 After Renovations by GTP editing team 11 April 2018 written by GTP editing team 11 April 2018 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 9 The Marpunta Resort on the Greek island of Alonnisos in the Sporades, is putting the finishing touches on the second phase of renovations to the property and is getting ready to open its doors and welcome guests on May 9. The project follows a £3 million (some 3.5 million euros) renovation, which saw all rooms refurbished and upgraded. A member hotel of the Santikos Collection and originally an old fisherman’s village, Marpunta Resort, is set in a private pine forest and features 104 rooms, 15 Family Suites, farm-to-table cuisine and three private beaches. The property offers a traditional and simple Greek-chic atmosphere and many activities for families and groups of friends to enjoy. Introducing Marpunta to UK market “The first phase of renovations at Marpunta Resort saw a huge investment and commitment by Santikos Collection to expand our portfolio and open one of our most beloved properties to the UK market,” Katerina Santikou, Business Development Manager for Santikos Collection, said. When Marpunta Resort re-opens in May, guests will benefit from over £300K (some 340,000 euros) of renovations that will complement the sum spent last year on upgrading all rooms and suites. “We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to invest further this year to make the guest experience even more memorable. Using a simple and fresh Mediterranean inspired palate with clever architectural and design offerings throughout, we have created a property that reflects and compliments the truly unique character of the island,” Santikou said. According to an announcement by Santikos Collection, the biggest area that will benefit from this year’s renovations is the pool area, which underwent a complete re-design and expansion with new flooring, new loungers and furniture, more outdoor bathrooms and changing rooms and the addition of a brand-new pool bar. Marpunta Resort’s entrance has also been transformed. Renovation works included the upgrade of all roads and paths within the hotel grounds, along with landscaping all the gardens. Moreover, the resort’s lunchtime hotspot, the ‘Taverna’ on the beach, was completely revamped and will re-open with a new look and new menu. The Greek island of Alonnisos is surrounded by Greece’s first national marine park and has a wealth of private and secluded beaches. “Marpunta Resort is a destination in itself and following a hugely successful 2017 we’re excited to be working with a great selection of UK tour operators in 2018 to help us spread the word,” Santikou added.
