Sea Tourism Greek Ferries Resume Itineraries as Seamen End Strike by GTP editing team 19 April 2018 written by GTP editing team 19 April 2018 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 9 Ferries in Greece will resume itineraries as the Panhellenic Seamen’s Federation (PNO) ended a two-day strike. Ferry routes to the Greek islands will run normally as of Friday, April 20, after 6am, as many companies have already made changes to their schedules to service passengers. Travelers are advised to check with their travel agents or contact local port authorities for further information. The strike had been announced in protest of a Shipping Ministry decision that allows cargo ships to sail with the minimum number of crew required for safe manning. PNO was also protesting pension cuts and was calling for new collective labor contracts with salary increases. In its announcement ending the strike, PNO requested for the Government and the Shipping Minister to seriously take the demands of the seamen under consideration, adding that they are “ready for new battles when they need to defend and claim their righteous demands.” Follow GTP Headlines on Google News to keep up to date with all the latest on tourism and travel in Greece.
