According to an announcement, the hotel’s head sommelier Evangelos Psofidis and executive chef Asterios Koustoudis will introduce international guests and visitors to Athens to a unique wine tasting experience. “Along with the finest gastronomic creations they will guide the attendees through the deepest secrets of the legendary wine producing regions of the world,” the hotel’s management said. The events kick off on April 26, at 8.30 pm, as the Grande Bretagne welcomes wine expert Thomas Perrin in an event titled, “Wine Legends of the World – Chateau de Beaucastel; Decoding a Myth“. The Perrin family owns the legendary Chateau de Beaucastel since 1909 and Thomas Perrin will take guests on a journey to rare wine tastes and aromas, while revealing the secrets of the “Chateauneuf du Pape” terroir. Furthermore, award-winning chef Asterios Koustoudis will prepare a fine menu to accompany the flavors of the rare wines. The Hotel Grande Bretagne will also welcome prominent Greek wine producers, who will present their unique wine collections – not broadly available for sale – in Athens for the first time during the “Wine Trails” event. Wine lovers will have the opportunity to taste and purchase rare fine wines. As part of the “Wine Journeys” events, the Wine Library will introduce top wine destinations of the world. Head sommelier Evangelos Psofidis will reveal the secrets of a different country in each season of the year and welcome its unique wines. In addition, Psofidis will host a number of “Taste & Wine Workshops” for those who wish to learn more on wine production, decode the characteristics of the world’s top grape varieties and get familiar with the art of wine and food pairing.
