With the support of the G & A Mamidakis Foundation, NGO Tipping Point aims to introduce the students of Crete to the potential of a career in tourism.

Dubbed “Connecting Schools of Crete with the World of Tourism”, the initiative brings specialized “tippers” or volunteers from a wide range of sectors who serve as mentors, empowering youth to consciously take their most critical once-in-a-lifetime decisions, while preparing them for the workplace of tomorrow.

The program will initially be carried out at five schools on Crete, where students will have the chance to chat via Live Video with sector professionals and ask questions about tourism. Issues to be covered include what types of jobs are available at hotels, the impact of tourism on the local economy, alternative forms of tourism, a day in the life of a chef, how to set up a tourist business, the role of the hotelier, tourism marketing, and much more.

Dozens of Tipping Point programs are being carried out across Greece, with emphasis on remote areas bringing on board educators from all walks of life interested in sharing their experience with young people in efforts to aid them in making career decisions.

The G & A Mamidakis Foundation lends its support to educational actions and training initiatives that promote Greece’s cultural wealth, link tourism with culture, protect the environment, support its human capital and create the environment that will foster creativity and entrepreneurial spirit.
