Transportation in Athens via buses, trains and metro will be disrupted on Tuesday, May 1, as public transport employees will participate in strike mobilizations and work stoppages to mark May Day.

Trains of the Hellenic Railways Organization (OSE), the suburban railway (Proastiakos) and ILPAP trolley-buses will not be running as workers have decided to hold a 24-hour strike.

It is noted that due to OSE’s strike, the Athens – Thessaloniki itinerary scheduled to depart at midnight on April 30 will be cancelled.

The Athens metro will be in service only from 9am until 6pm and metro line 3 (blue line) will operate only until Doukisis Plakendias station. There will be no metro service to Athens International Airport.

The electric railway (ISAP) will run from 8am until the end of shift and buses in Athens will run only between 9am and 9pm.

Moreover, all passenger ferries will remain docked across Greece on May Day due to an announced 24-hour strike, called by the Pan-Hellenic Seamen’s Federation (PNO).

The tram in Athens has not announced strike action at the moment.
