According to an announcement, the hotel’s new look has attracted the interest of travelers, leading to a 25 percent increase in overnights compared to last year, and also created a new travel destination. The hotel’s Remake project reached 20 million euros and is considered to be one of the largest ever makeover schemes in the northern port city. A landmark hotel – Thessaloniki’s first luxury hospitality unit to open in 1972 – the Makedonia Palace underwent extensive changes to its room and premises and now offers, among others, spectacular views of the waterfront and the White Tower. “The hotel has managed to combine its classic features with a modern aesthetic approach, and redefine hospitality through a number of quality services and activities,” the management of Makedonia Palace said. Furthermore, the guests of the hotel’s Salonica Restaurant have increased by 35 percent since last year. Based on authentic Greek and Mediterranean recipes, the restaurant’s award-winning chef Sotiris Evaggelou is offering high-end gastronomy to discerning travelers and Thessaloniki residents. The hotel’s newly established authentic “Hammam Baths” offer a rejuvenating experience, which can be combined with beauty treatments at the “I hair u” hair salon, while the especially designed shopping mall provides a number of options for clothes, accessories and gifts. “After a year of operation… the hotel has become a destination in Thessaloniki and is calling on every guest to discover it,” the announcement said.
