According the data released by the airport, the growth came from a significant rise in the number of both domestic and international travelers by 8.5 percent and 16.1, percent respectively. Contrary to the first three months of the year, the strong rise of the domestic market in April is attributed both to the Easter holiday, as well as to the enhanced domestic operations during the running summer flight schedule. Overall, during the January – April period, the airport’s passenger traffic reached 5.9 million, almost achieving double-digit growth at 9.7 percent. Moreover, domestic traffic was still below the respective 2017 volumes (-1.6 percent) due to the first quarter’s decline, whereas international passengers showed a sharp increase of 16 percent.
