Athens International Airport (AIA) and the Hellenic American University once again will organize the annual summer Aviation and Flight Academy, aiming to provide high school students with more information on aviation and its principles.

Held for the third year, the academy will operate from June 25 to July 13 for children between 14 and 17 years old. The academy’s students will follow an interesting program that combines in-class sessions and hands-on learning at the Athens and Megara airports.

“It is a special innovative educational initiative… For one month, every day, our students will be taught the principles of aviation by prominent experienced instructors of the aviation and academic community,” said AIA Communications and Marketing Director Ioanna Papadopoulou.

“It’s an exciting program that will provide first-hand observation and practical learning and will offer a first taste of the exciting and professionally promising aviation sector.”

According to Dr. Triant Flouris, Provost of the Hellenic American University, the program aims to provide the next generation of aviation professionals with an academic background in aviation they can build on the future.

“We look forward to continuing and expanding the program geographically in other areas of Greece and academically as well, with the addition of new courses,” Flouris said.

The application deadline for the Academy is on June 15.

Each course provides 45 hours of instruction and three college credits (6 ECTS credits). Students wishing to participate in the advanced courses need to have successfully completed the introductory course “Fundamentals of Aviation & Flight”.
