The municipality of Astypalea presented the new campaign during an event attended by South Aegean Region Governor George Hatzimarkos. Under the motto “Astypalea: Τhe Aegean Energy Spring”, advertising consultants wish to promote the island’s positive energy as it is experienced through its landscape, beaches, traditions and people. The central idea is to convey the originality of the Astypalea experience while reaching out to the 25+ traveler, couples and families. Known as the “butterfly of the Aegean” due to its shape, Astypalea offers travelers the chance to relax in an inspiring setting offering original island experiences. The region’s governor went on to note that besides the large number of investments in tourism, the region also accounts for 50 percent of all overnight tax revenue. Other promotional actions include FAM and international press trips, reaching out to influencers, publications in National Geographic and Conde Nast Traveler, among others, and participation in travel trade shows. Meanwhile, this summer, two cruise ships carrying 600 passengers each are set to visit the island – on July 28 and August 24.
