The port city of Piraeus is set to welcome dozens of visitors over 10 days full of activities within the “Sea Days 2018 – Go Piraeus” event to take place on June 1-10.

A joint initiative of the Piraeus Municipality and local associations, the 10-day event, currently in its fourth year, will focus on the marine environment, shipping, sports, entertainment and education through a series of conferences, lectures, workshops and seminars, and aims to inform and raise public awareness on issues of marine sustainability as well as to promote networking of public and private bodies for future collaboration in the Blue Growth Strategy.

The free activities, happenings and events will be taking place at the port of Piraeus and along the coast.

Visitors will have the chance to participate in water sports events (swimming, sailing, polo, visits to the Yacht Club of Greece, training sessions), as well as enjoy art contests and exhibitions, photo competitions, dance performances, theatrical performances, concerts, documentaries, beach-cleaning initiatives, guided tours and street events – all aiming to promote the maritime culture of Piraeus and strengthen people’s ties with the sea.

Presenting “Sea Days 2018 – Go Piraeus” to the press on Monday, Piraeus Mayor Yannis Moralis said the “events have been designed to highlight the relationship between Piraeus and the sea, to promote this comparative advantage and to offer residents and visitors the opportunity to experience the culture, history and the potential for growth that it offers”.
